Job Description:

Role in The Organization

The Agriculture & Livestock Assistant will be based at the SIF Field office in Chitral and will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and reporting climate-smart agriculture, horticulture, and Livestock interventions in Chitral District under the direct supervision of the Project Manager-GLOF. S/he will technically ensure adherence to the standards of humanitarian work while implementing project-related activities in a timely manner.

In addition, s/he may be called upon to carry out surveys, participatory needs assessments, or any other activity that may be deemed necessary.

Responsible for:

Objective 1: Activities:

  • Development of area profile and collection of data regarding the target groups.
  • Identification of the Assessment of project beneficiaries as per the approved beneficiary selection criteria.
  • Assessment for potential disaster-resilient and climate-smart agriculture & livestock needs according to the area.
  • His responsibility is to make aware of disaster-resilient and climate-smart agriculture & livestock management to farmers with the available services and equipment.
  • He is responsible for coordinating and instructing crew members to develop the farms in a rural area and highlight the problems, to diminish them.
  • The responsibility of agriculture & livestock assistants is to provide training on disaster-resilient and climate-smart agriculture & livestock management to the farmer committee.
  • He is responsible for providing modern technology on disaster-resilient and climate-smart agriculture & livestock management to plow fields in an easy way and motivate farmers to adopt modern farming.
  • He is responsible for motivating farmers to use highly productive seeds, protective insecticides, and available modern fertilizers.
  • Agriculture & livestock assistants is responsible for promoting farmers to improve the quality of fields and livestock.
  • He is responsible for providing the maximum healthy crops, and livestock which is beneficial for the government also.
  • He will be responsible for coordination will the line departments.
  • Any other assignment was given by the supervisor according to the project’s need.
  • He will be responsible for the identification of potential needs in the agriculture & livestock sector.
  • He will be responsible for amazing ideas and techniques which can help in improving the production rate of Chitral.
  • His responsibility is to teach formers by giving the best skills or tips for handling problems and issues. 

Objective 2: Coordination Activities:

  • Maintain close liaison with CBOs and farmer committee.
  • Establish strong liaisons with all relevant departments and get the technical guidance, day-to-day lessons, and best practices replication in implementation.                                                                                                        

Objective 3: Documentation Activities:

  • Ensure proper documentation.
  • Developed case studies/ success stories.
  • Final report of different activities works.

Objective 3: Reporting Activities:

  • Report all the activities to the project manager in a timely manner.
  • Collect and analyze the reports and provide necessary feedback to the concerned.
  • Prepare field visit reports and other ad hoc reports.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • University degree in Disaster Risk Management, social sciences, or management sciences with a technical degree/Diploma.
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal); fluency in local language & Urdu; knowledge of English an asset.
  • Minimum Two Years of relevant experience.            
  • Good knowledge of the rights-based approach and of social dynamics in the working area.
  • Experience working with diverse civil society organizations.
