The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual who can manage a project with oversight from the proposal phase to construction administration.

Responsibilities

• Analyze configurations of the basic components of a structure
• Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, design analysis and construction cost estimates
• Calculate the pressures, stresses and strains that each component, such as a beam or lintel, will experience from other parts of the structure due to human use or environmental pressures such as weather or earthquakes
• Consider the strength of various materials, e.g. timber, concrete, steel and brick, to see how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design
• Use computers and computer-aided design (CAD) technology for simulation purposes
• Collaborate with architects, designers and building contractors on the design and construction of projects
• Examine structures at risk of collapse and advise how to improve their structural integrity, such as recommending removal or repair of defective parts or rebuilding the entire structure
• Make drawings, specifications and computer models of structures for building contractors

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil engineering
• Masters in structural engineering can be an added advantage
• At least 1 years of experience in construction and structural design
• Strong organizational, creative and presentation skills
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Tekla Tedds, SAP2000 and Staad Pro.

• Good knowledge of the industry and regulatory standards and codes
• Team player
• Fluency of English language
